Skill-Building Seminars are a series of learning sessions provided across departments and offices designed to equip members with practical and technical skills that can be applied in academics, personal growth, and future careers. These range from the LaTeX Seminar for academic typesetting, to the Problem Crafting Workshop for designing challenging math problems, to the Pool of Hosts Training Seminar for honing communication and hosting skills, to the Programming Seminar for building essential coding proficiency.
The Leadership Training Seminar is a dedicated program that develops the mindset, skills, and confidence needed to lead with impact in academics, organizations, and future careers. Through interactive workshops and collaborative activities, members learn how to manage teams, make decisions, and foster a supportive environment, skills that extend beyond AMS and into any personal or professional setting.
The Career Fair connects AMS members with companies and organizations seeking promising talent, opening doors to internship and employment opportunities. By bridging students with industry professionals, the event supports members in building networks, exploring career paths, and gaining insights that can guide their professional growth.
Career Talks bring AMS members face-to-face with professionals from diverse fields, offering valuable insights into career journeys, industry trends, and essential skills for success. By connecting students with real-world experiences and guidance, the event helps members make informed decisions and prepare for their future paths.
Blueprint is a welcome event for all undergraduate and graduate math majors, held in collaboration with the Department of Mathematics. It serves as a space for celebration, connection, and inspiration, bringing together students across programs to kick off the school year with a shared sense of community and purpose. Through talks, activities, and conversations, the gathering strengthens bonds within the math community and sets a positive tone for the year ahead.
The Halloween Party is a fun-filled celebration that brings the AMS community together for a night of costumes, games, and spooky surprises. It’s a chance to unwind, show off your creativity, and enjoy the lighter side of student life while connecting with fellow members in a lively, festive atmosphere. Whether you come for the treats, the contests, or just the good company, it’s an event that blends fun and friendship in true AMS style.
Tambay Days are themed, laid-back hangouts open to all AMS members, offering a fun break from the usual grind. With games, conversations, and shared laughs, they’re a simple yet meaningful way to strengthen friendships and keep the AMS community close.
The Year-End Party is a night to celebrate milestones, cherish memories, and honor the people who made the year special. It also serves as our heartfelt senior send-off, recognizing graduating members for their contributions. With games, bonding, and moments of appreciation, it’s the perfect way to celebrate our members and the community that makes AMS feel like home.
