Join Matt E. Matics and be part of the fun at AMS this A.Y. 2025–2026!
AMS is powered by three departments that lead our core work: advancing math education and appreciation while fostering a strong, connected community within the organization.
Within each department are projects, which are specific initiatives or events that bring our mission to life, and pools, which are specialized teams with ongoing roles that support multiple projects throughout the year.
A department dedicated to math education and math excellence, Academics Department provides opportunities for problem solving and academic excellence! From creating math problems to fostering an appreciation for mathematics, the department provides students with a platform to sharpen their skills—not only in math but also in leadership. These skills are then used to help others and contribute positively to the community.
Projects: Sipnayan, Blueprint: Math Majors' Gathering, Fundamental Tournament of Calculus, LaTeX Seminar, Problem Crafting Workshop, and LT Archives
Pools: Tutors' Pool (TP), Academics Enrichment Team (AET), and Problem Crafters' Pool (PCP)
A department dedicated to math appreciation and math education, Math Applications Department creates opportunities for math enthusiasts to explore and express their passion for mathematics beyond the classroom. It aims to convey the beauty of mathematics beyond theoretical abstractions, promoting inclusivity for everyone by investigating contemporary fields and applications.
Projects: Mathventure, MathCon, and Pi Day
Pool: Math Applications Research Team (MART)
A department dedicated to fostering a strong and inclusive community within AMS, Member Relations provides avenues for AMS members to socialize and foster connections, with the ultimate aim of building lasting relationships.
Projects: Halloween Party, Year-End Party, and Tambay Events
Pools: Pool of Hosts (POH) and Know-Your-Members (KYAM)
